Battlefield 3 (PC) won't have in-game server browser

Well isn’t this funny. After screaming on the top of their lungs about how Battlefield 3 is being built from the ground up for PCs, we get word via the Battlefield Blog that the PC version of Battlefield 3 will not ship with an in-game server browser. This means as and when you wish to change servers, you have to quit the game, open DICE’s Battlelog service through your browser, choose a server and then head back into the action. I’ve spoken to a few people who played the Alpha and while they did say this method worked pretty well, it was a chore nevertheless.
You mean we have to quit the game to choose our server again?

What’s funnier (or sadder depending on which platform you plan on picking this game up on) is that the console versions of this game will ship with a server browser. The irony DICE, is most definitely not lost on us.

I can’t say I’m completely surprised by this move because like all Battlefield games before its time, I expect the PC version of Battlefield 3 to be a complete mess as far as online is concerned. I remember having an insane amount of connectivity issues when Bad Company 2 came out and I have a strong feeling, it’s going to happen again. My only hope at the end of the day is that the game is worth all the blood, sweat and tears.
