Kindle Fire and Nook Color get ICS (CM9)

We reported earlier this week about the Motorola DEFY and the DEFY+ getting an early experimental build of Ice Cream Sandwich. Though it was working, there were a few bugs, which meant that some hardware aspects of the phone weren’t fully functional. Now, the Kindle Fire and the Nook Color have received their early versions of Ice Cream Sandwich. The experimental build is out on the XDA Developer’s forum and the version for the Nook Color can be downloaded from here.

It’s a Cyanogen Mod, so the installation is quite meticulous. If you’re an inexperienced user, you might want to wait a while before trying out the early Android 4.0 version. Also, there are a few aspects in both the devices that don’t seem to be working. There is no sound or video support currently for the Color, whereas Bluetooth and few other issues are currently under works for the Kindle Fire. The download for the Kindle Fire is available here.
