VU Technologies has launched their all new, 32-inch Sonic Series LED TV at an affordable price tag of Rs. 26,000. This is quite an aggressive pricing from VU when you take a look at the competition. VU haven’t divulged too much information on the details of the TV, like the panel used, for instance. Most likely, they’ll be using edge-lit LEDs, as that’s the easiest to implement and is cost effective as well.  The Sonic Series Some of the highlights of the TV include:

Market Watch - Monitors
Display manufacturers have been releasing new models every few months. There is always an effort to introduce new features and we have seen that has shaped LED backlight panels and, more recently, 120Hz and 200Hz 3D capable. While manufacturers of monitors to represent these features are the future, the reality on the ground level is completely different market. We went to the local tech center Lamington road and shopkeepers spoke to a few seconds to get a better idea of what sells and what does not.
Customers tend to prefer 22-inch models more than 24 models. The demand for displays beyond that size as the 27-inch and 30 inch-are extremely rare. The native resolution of most 22-inch monitors is identical to that of a 24-inch monitor - all you get is a larger viewing area. There is also a budget constraint when it comes to monitors - which is all the Rs. 8000 mark. Most customers are looking monitors Rs. 8000 range. This is about the same as the customers were willing to spend on CRT monitors in the first half of the last decade.
There is also some brand loyalty comes into play. Although here at Tech2 find specific models and are not really aware of the brands, most people buying monitors have their favorite brands. Apparently Samsung is at the top and more and more users ask Samsung monitors. The next in line of priority, Dell, LG and Asus. Brands like Acer AOC and are not as popular. Note that this is what the distributors of these products are saying.
Warranty is also a major concern for many customers. LCD panels are fairly simple, uncomplicated piece of hardware compared to CRT monitors, which had more things that could go wrong in a period of time. However, users prefer to have a five year warranty for its products. That is something that Dell used to offer, but a three-year warranty on monitors offered now, at least in conventional products.

Review of Philips 42PFL6556 LED LCD TV
Manufacturers often offer attractive packages and special offers to attract customers and gain an edge over the competition. Philips is one of these companies, grouping 3D Blu-ray, a 42-inch LED TV and a wireless keyboard in attractive packaging. The Blu-ray, we now expect another part of the package - Philips 42PFL6556 42-inch LED LCD TV. Read on to know if this TV can do to make a mark on the frantically competitive market LED LCD TV.
Design and Build Quality
The 42PFL6556 is a glossy black bezel which is bent at every corner. Slim is the way to survive in the cut throat LED LCD TV space, and Philips has done just that with this model. If this is not the thinnest TV we have seen, part of the measures about an inch on the sides and top, and just over an inch down. Philips Logo is placed at the bottom of the frame, and it is the control panel of the TV, which is unique because its buttons are pressure sensitive. This approach not only designed to reduce congestion around the ring, but it also makes the TV look more elegant. The control elements found here, including volume controls and channel menu, and on / off control.
Connectivity ports are located in the back, and like most TVs, which have been placed on the left side of the TV. In this way, there is no need to reach too far back to use them. Connectors are not outwardly, but, on the side and top to bottom. This TV can be mounted against the wall, the wireless way. Connectors on the back are three HDMI ports, two USB ports, and a composite, component and VGA connectors.
The remote is similar in design to the Philips Blu-ray, but it is longer. Although it has several buttons, they are well spread out. The base is not very big, but it supports the TV without any problems and keeps stable. There is no oscillation at all, when seated on the dais. Overall design and build quality 42PFL6556 is great.
Features
The ceiling of this feature TV is 1080p full HD video playback support. 1080p becoming the norm these days, and various Blu-ray is not affected by this resolution, Full HD is the way to go. TV also offers you the opportunity to get rid of vertical black bars that appear at the top and bottom of some movies, but also crops out of the picture a bit 'on each side of the bargain.
Other highlighted features of this TV includes its Pixel Plus HD picture processing technology, HD Natural Motion and a dynamic contrast of 8,000,000:1. This is basically a marketing jargon to try to make the product stand out. When it comes really down to it, reproducing the colors are good, and the images look natural. Most TVs use a technique that increases the amount of business, when the scene seems faster than it should be. This is not the case with the 42PFL6556
The interface is quite simple and user friendly. It has a few widgets on the screen that set out various options and settings. They are quite common, such as TV, USB, Scenes, etc., minimalist design allows easy navigation between the different options. It also has two USB ports that support NTFS disk for playback of multimedia files. Most TVs with media playback function supports only FAT32 drives, but with the ability to play through the NTFS hard drives, you can simply connect their high-capacity external hard drive and play back videos effortlessly.
The TV supports the video formats, including most of the MKV, MT2S, AVI, MP4, and M4A. The user interface in the folder options are available pan-style. The file is on the right, while its online content on the left. Another interesting part of this arrangement is that, in the far left is a preview pane that displays thumbnails of the content.
Performance
The performance of the Philips 42PFL6556 has been tested by connecting it to the Philips BDP5200 Blu-ray 3D player that came with it. We also connected a laptop to run the test and a companion display NTFS hard drive to play videos. When you run test companion display, we noticed that the gray and white were reproduced well. Out of the box, Philips has remained true to its marketing, colors appear natural, in fact. This was the case with most colors except green, which was a little bit busy. In the test contrast, we saw that most of the dark gray blocks could be established, which means that the black levels of the TV is really high. The color test scales, we noticed that there was no bleeding in the color Blue wait.
When you watch a Blu-ray, the colors looked natural and has had virtually no noise. The color seemed a natural as well. When connected to an NTFS drive, we saw that the drive can read the TV really fast. When we navigate through the menus, we noticed there was a slight delay as the TV was trying to put the preview pane on the left. During playback, the video through your hard drive, we found that the TV's performance was really good. All the colors seemed to be as it should, and there was little noise in the images. We were also impressed by the ability of TV to play mkv and not so common in M4A files. In addition, the delay while browsing the menu, this TV is a solid performer.
Verdict
Philips 42PFL6556 LCD TV LED retails in India at MRP of Rs. 64 990 and can be purchased at a price less than Rs. 60k. This is a really good TV, but the only problem is the price of this model for the package offered by Philips. Overall, this TV offers a very good image quality and the ability to read NTFS files, and play lots of video formats is a massive bonus. If you are looking for a USB TV features 1080p Full HD video playback, and are willing to spend so much, then 42PFL6556 is a good choice. Philips currently offers 3D on Blu-ray player and a wireless keyboard only Rs. 5000 more. If you are looking for the perfect, then buy a bunch of would be the most feasible option.
